Research Area Security

(Quelle: DFKI GmbH/Universität Bremen)
The focus of this research area is data security in networked systems. How can the large need for communication and information between autonomous systems be satisfied in the long run without comprising confidential information to unauthorized external agents? Which properties must algorithms have in order to guarantee responsible handling of data by complex systems under continuously changing requirements? And how can they indicate which information can be communicated without compromising sensitive data or endanger the overall system behaviour? Computer scientists are designing security policies, which govern the needs and responsibilities of systems, and in particular conform to the requirements of data protection.
Our expertise comprises secure communication (security protocols), modelling and control of information flow, and covering the security aspects of new infrastructure such as cloud computing.
